Bio - Nick Galante

Nick has always had a deep passion for music. His music studies took him to the Ithaca College School of Music where he graduated with honors with a double degree in music performance and music education.  As a performer, Nick enjoys a wide range of musical instruments and styles.  During his time in upstate New York, he served as the timpanist of the Orchestra of the Southern Fingerlakes and performed regularly as a percussionist with the Binghamton Philharmonic.  He also formed a successful Americana band in Burlington, Vermont.  Afterwards, while teaching music in public school in Virginia, he played in an acoustic duo and drummed for a local worship band.  Now based in Colorado, he plays drums, guitar, and mandolin as much as possible in the Denver and Northern Colorado area!

As an educator, Nick taught students of all ages and backgrounds.  For three years, he served as general music teacher at Jenkins Elementary School, a title I school in Newport News, VA. Following that, he was an itinerant strings teacher in Virginia Beach, VA teaching beginning strings at five elementary schools.  As a private lesson teacher for the past 20 years, Nick has taught lessons on drums and percussion, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, piano and violin.

A lover of the outdoors, Nick spent two years living off the grid without running water or electricity in a yurt he built himself! When not managing student travel operations, performing, or teaching, Nick loves immersing himself in Colorado’s many beautiful outdoor places by hiking, snowshoeing, and paddle boarding.

Life philosophy in one word:  Practice

Favorite quote:  "If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.  Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away." - Henry David Thoreau
